We play fair with nature!

At Benefit Systems we want to play fair with nature and look after the environment. Every day we use solutions that reduce water and electricity consumption, print on ecological recycled paper, collect waste paper, use biodegradable detergents, segregate waste into five fractions (mixed waste, plastic and metal, glass, paper and biowaste), and hazardous waste for the environment (e.g. electro waste, batteries) are disposed of in accordance with environmental requirements.

We encourage our customers and partners to settle accounts with us using electronic invoices. In 2019 nearly 4,000 MultiSport customers switched to this form of settlement, which allows us to save almost 100 reams of paper per year!

 

Our office is ECO

The Benefit Systems office is in a modern office building of the Warsaw Spire complex with the Excellent BREEAM certificate, which meets several requirements in the field of environmental protection. Electricity that we use in our Warsaw office comes only from renewable sources. When choosing this location, we were guided by, among others, easy access by public transport, so we can get to work without a car. Moreover, the building has an extensive infrastructure and amenities for cyclists (cloakroom, underground parking) and its own city bike station.

 

 

 

“Fair play with nature” programme

In January 2017, we implemented a proprietary “Fair play with nature” programme, under which we educate employees by showing them how to be more ECO every day, both at work and at home.

We conducted an internal information campaign promoting pro-environmental habits, including a series of messages on the Intranet and coherent visual communication in the form of labels and posters in common spaces. In 2019 we established an employee group of ECO Ambassadors, which supports our ecological initiatives inside the company and constantly inspires us with new ideas. In December of the same year, we also refreshed our “Fair play with nature” campaign, thus extending the segregation of waste from three to five fractions. The new edition of the campaign was aimed at reminding important ECO habits related to office life, as well as educating our employees about conscious ecological decisions also in their private life.

Green Office Certificate

In June 2019, we received the Green Office Certificate, which is an independently verified eco-certificate awarded to institutions, companies and organisations distinguished by increasing the efficiency of their office activities by reducing the negative impact on the environment. To meet the certification requirements, we conducted workshops for our employees, during which they could deepen their knowledge in the field of environmental protection in practice.

The Green Office certificate, awarded for two years, is the “successor” to the Zielone Biuro Certificate, which we obtained in June 2017. As part of the Zielone Biuro certification process, in addition to eco-workshops for employees, we also developed  Benefit Systems Environmental Policy, which is a document in which we described how we care for the environment in our company.

 

Annual corporate event in green

To be even more ECO and make our employees aware of the importance of caring for the environment, each year the main theme of the annual Benefit Systems corporate event includes an ecological aspect or is related to the broadly understood corporate social responsibility.

In 2017 its catchphrase was “Fair play with nature.” The event included, among others, an outdoor game based on ecology, as well as ecological workshops. In 2018, the leitmotif was Diversity, and in 2019 we focused on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Carbon footprint and climate policy

As part of non-financial reporting for the Benefit Systems Group, when we describe our pro-ecological activities and impact on the natural environment every year, in the reporting year 2020 we intend to develop and implement a climate policy. In addition, we will measure our carbon footprint, i.e. greenhouse gas emissions caused by the activities of all companies within the Group.
