ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The progress of civilization and technology has brought about many conveniences in everyday life, simultaneously contributing to a reduction in physical activity among all age groups - currently more than half of Poles spend more than 5 hours a day in a sitting position . What is more, as a society we statistically spend as much as 10 hours a day in front of screens – that is as many as 159 days per year spent exclusively in front of smartphones, computers or televisions . It does not come as a surprise, then, that hypokinesia, or physical inactivity, has been identified by the World Health Organization as one of the key threats to modern civilization. According to the MultiSport Index 2022 survey, as many as 35% of Poland's adult population is physically inactive, and the vast majority are over 55 years of age.
The situation among the youngest is equally alarming – a nationwide study of the quality of life of children and adolescents commissioned by the Children's Rights Ombudsman shows that already more than 17% of schoolchildren in Poland require immediate assistance related to physical fitness, and one in five children feel sick, exhausted, and lack vital energy. What is more, children in Poland are gaining weight at the fastest rate in all of Europe.
The limited availability of sports infrastructure and numerous social inequalities further exacerbate the problem of immobility in society. In contrast, regular physical activity is a fundamental factor for a healthy, happy, and quality life. Many studies confirm the positive impact of physical activity on everyone's psychophysical well-being.
That is why in 2021 the MultiSport Foundation, established by Benefit Systems, was created, in which we strive to actively help all those who are most severely affected by immobility.
As a Foundation...
MISSION
The mission of the MultiSport Foundation is to popularize health and promote active lifestyles among various social groups. The harmful impact of social immobility on the one hand, and on the other hand, the stereotypes related to sports still functioning in society (such as the image of an ideal athlete), motivated us to organize activities to overcome those barriers. We believe that everyone, regardless of age or psychophysical capabilities, should have access to modern sports infrastructure. The opportunity to participate in attractive activities is undoubtedly a step forward for the well-being of the society. We believe that support and activation of groups particularly in need of it is one of the key social challenges today, so for the sake of a better future, we are ready to accept it.
TASKS OF THE FOUNDATION
OUR PROGRAMS
PROGRAM "Active Schools MultiSport"
This is a project aimed at children and young people aged 12-19. It is our response to the poor state of mental and physical condition of the youngest children and limited access to school sports infrastructure.
"Active MultiSport Schools" is a project that was launched in 2017 by Benefit Systems. The goal of the initiative was to create space in elementary schools for daily activity, which is needed to stay healthy. Initially, the initiative was local in scope and implemented in the Dolnośląskie and Mazowieckie provinces.
Since 2022 the project has been coordinated by the MultiSport Foundation established by Benefit Systems. The current location of the program is the Mazowieckie and Łódzkie provinces. Ultimately, we want our foundation's support activities to cover the entire Poland.
As part of the program's activities, qualified trainers and instructors conduct modern sports activities for children and young people in fitness clubs and at events organized within the confines of the project.
SOCIAL CAMPAIGN "Full of Sport"
The idea of the "Full Sports" campaign is to popularize sports and physical activity among people with disabilities. The project aims to integrate and support the realization of a better quality of life. In cooperation with athletes with disabilities, we mobilize and show the way to opportunities that are available to everyone.
We provide contact with sports clubs, athletes and coaches to work with people with disabilities. We communicate people in need of activity and their families with experienced individuals and institutions working in the field of sports and recreation.
Within the framework of organized events, we promote activities that build awareness of the impact of physical activity on health and well-being and break down existing stereotypes. We promote the development of mental and physical fitness, taking into account the capabilities of all participants, through properly prepared games and sports activities, supervised by experts.
Movement fosters integration of body and mind, promotes better learning and openness to new experiences. We believe and prove that sports, as well as other areas of social life, are accessible to everyone.
PROGRAM "MultiSport Classes WITH ELEMENTS OF CORRECTIVE-COMPENSATION EXERCISES"
The project is aimed at children at preschool education and elementary school students in grades I-VI. The aim of the project is to prevent and correct postural defects and encourage students to engage in regular physical activity.
The program counteracts chronic sedentary behavior (i.e., activities that we do while sitting or lying down), reducing their negative impact on the formation of unhealthy postures among children.
The classes contain elements of corrective-compensatory exercises and are adapted to the age and psychomotor capabilities of children. They are conducted by qualified trainers, instructors and physiotherapists. Classes are varied, based on elements of acrobatics, dance, tennis, team games and combat sports, with elements of corrective-compensatory exercises.
